MDS - Tim Count and Keith van Geyzel
Tim Count and Keith van Geyzel are composers situated in Perth, Western Australia
Keith van Geyzel is an alumni of Berklee College of Music in Boston USA and the Dick Groves School of music in LA.
Keith toured as a performer with many high profile acts throughout Europe for many years before arriving in Perth and became head lecturer in piano, composition and arranging at WAAPA. Keith remained at WAAPA before creating MDS together with Tim Count.
Tim Count graduated from WAAPA before becoming a lecturer there in arranging and music technology. Tim has performed live as keyboard player throughout Australia, most recently with Divinyls, Diesel, and the Baby Animals. Tim also arranged a 30 piece orchestra to accompany those acts.
MDS has created music for every medium. When something out of the ordinary is required, MDS is the 'come to' place.
We thrive on thinking out of the box when composing, for instance utilizing abstract and organic sounds from the film's location to create a soundscape. MDS has a team of specialist musicians on hand to cater for all aspects of sound and music.
Recent productions include;
Three Acts Of Murder (90 minute telemovie for the ABC)
Stormworld (26 x 30 min drama)
Hunt for HMAS Sydney (60 minute drama/ documentary)
Little Sparrows (Feature Film)
Graeme Blundell’s review of 3 Acts of Murder in the Australian.
Director, Rowan Woods (Winged Creatures, Little Fish)
Producer, Taylor Media
“Wood’s movie is a gorgeously realised literary piece, a knowingly constructed piece of filmmaking that relishes its sense of style, expressionistic cinematography and studied compositions. He knows exactly what he is doing and steeps David’s script in a kind of lyrical fatalism, heightened by a brilliant insinuating score by Perth composers Tim Count and Keith van Geyzel”
